Anne: I had been singing in a cappella groups since high school, and when I joined the Grace Notes in 1992, I found that we were a perfect fit. I enjoy the continuing challenge of the high performance quality of the group, and I enjoy our mission—“to reach out to all who need and love music in their lives, young and old.”
Claire: I joined the Grace Notes in 2017 and sing Alto 2. I love making music, bringing harmonies together, and sharing the healing power of music with others. When I’m not singing, I spend time with my husband and three children, creating one-of-a-kind porcelain ceramics, playing the violin, and I am involved in philanthropy as a member of Impact100 Westchester.
Maggie: I’ve been a Grace Note since 1993. My husband heard the Grace Notes caroling at the train station for the commuters and said, “You ought to look in to auditioning for the group…” I’ve been a first soprano all this time, and I just love singing in harmony with the people in the group. I was a stay-at-home mom for a hundred years, and now work one day a week at Greenwich Academy. I’m very involved with my church’s choir, altar guild, and bell choir. I like the notion of song as gift to the singer and the listener.
Robin: I joined in 2004 as a second alto. I wanted to bring back music into my life and the Grace Notes looked like they were having fun. I love singing with this warm and friendly group of friends. We all believe in the mission of sharing the gift of music with people in our community. I volunteer in the Greenwich Library Oral History Project and mentor Girl Scouts who are working toward their Gold Awards. I enjoy playing and crafting with yarn and fabric (& adding to my stash). I have a wonderful husband and three amazing adult offspring.
Hannah: I joined the Grace Notes in 2019 as a Second Soprano. The sound of the voices coming together in harmony is always thrilling, and I love the joy every member clearly has for the singing, and then sharing that joy with others. I am a full-time homemaker with two young daughters. I dance tap and jazz, and I have a lifetime passion for musical theatre.
Judy: Many years ago, I had been in a wonderful barbershop group, and knew I wanted to sing again. I saw the Grace Notes perform and immediately knew I wanted to be a part of this group. One of the members encouraged me to visit a rehearsal. I auditioned and they LET ME IN! I remember asking, “Am I a Grace Note yet?” I was finally declared a Grace Note (more than 10 years ago). I came from being a soloist all my life to becoming a soprano 2, which is all harmony. I thought my head would explode. With trepidation and encouragement, I adjusted. And now? Sometimes I can no longer hear the melody! I’m the widow of a very handsome Barbershopper, the mother of a brilliant son, a beautiful daughter, and the most amazing grand-twins. I also own the best custom framing shop in the tristate area.
Katie: An Alto 1, I joined The Grace Notes in 2000 when our family was new to the area and I was looking for ways to get to know more women while also serving people in the community. Over the past 20 years, it has continued to be a gift to sing in a group with members who also support one another through the joys and challenges of life. I enjoy connecting with our audiences as well as the fun of learning new music and fine-tuning our broad repertoire during rehearsals. Professionally, I work with my husband to help leaders cultivate a culture of connection that enables people to thrive and do their best work.
Jenn: I was a professional opera and oratorio singer for many years before my husband's job took us to Hong Kong. I had my beautiful daughter there and put my singing on the back burner while navigating parenthood in a new country. We returned to the USA in October 2020, and I found The Grace Notes through Hannah, whose daughter was my daughter's first friend in her new American school. It has been such a joy to sing again, and this music brings back such happy memories from high school and college a cappella singing. I am so blessed to share the gift of music with our community. Making music with these women has been a balm for my soul.
I joined the Grace Notes in 2022 as an Alto 1. When I moved up to Westchester County, I looked for a choir to join because I am a lifelong (liturgical) singer. The Grace Notes are serious musicians who are dedicated to their craft. After years of church music I find the Grace Notes repertoire challenging with its fast tempos and syncopated rhythms, and I love it!
Sheila: I moved to Connecticut and joined the Grace Notes in 2009. I was in a cappella groups for many years prior to the Grace Notes. I am a first alto and love singing the inner parts. I enjoy the camaraderie of these wonderful women—musical and otherwise—their voices, and their generosity. I love our repertoire and our director’s teaching. I learn something every rehearsal…and I love our acoustically perfect rehearsal space. I’m also a retired granny of four and I love to travel.
Eric is our amazing director who has the unenviable job of herding cats at each rehearsal while teaching us to hone our craft and bring the best sound to each of our audiences.
